buy portable air conditioner online

As we reported over the holiday weekend, the heat of summer came back with a bit of a vengeance and looks likely to stay for some time.

Here in New York, central air conditioning is rarer than in other parts of the country, and most people hit a point where they give in and buy a new unit. Often, this occurs on the hottest day yet out of a sheer sense of desperation. Chances are, if you haven’t installed an older unit yet and one isn’t waiting in the garage for you, shopping for a portable air conditioner will crop up on your summer agenda.

Introducing iCloud, iOS 5, and Mac OS X Lion at WWDC Keynote by Steve Jobs

Apple has just sent out a press release, and the rumors are true: iCloud is coming at WWDC next week.

As an added plus? Steve Jobs will be keynoting after all.

The press release is below. Details as to what iCloud will actually do are thin in the press release, but Apple’s at least now confirming the name. It’s good to hear Steve Jobs is keynoting: let’s hope this marks his return to the company after the latest medical leave of absence.

CUPERTINO, California—May 31, 2011—Apple® CEO Steve Jobs and a team of Apple executives will kick off the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a keynote address on Monday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. At the keynote, Apple will unveil its next generation software – Lion, the eighth major release of Mac OS® X; iOS 5, the next version of Apple’s advanced mobile operating system which powers the iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch®; and iCloud®, Apple’s upcoming cloud services offering.

iOS 5

There goes all the fun rumors and wild speculation. Apple just released a press release detailing what’s coming next week at the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference. I’ll let that sink in for a moment. Apple pre-announced something — iOS 5 and OS X Lion to be exact. Oh, and something called iCloud, too.

It was already generally accepted that the two operating system were going to debut next week, but it’s rather strange that Apple would take to the wires with a pre-announcement. Please correct me if I’m wrong, save a teaser image showcasing a roman numeral and a large feline, the company hasn’t done this in recent history. The presser is after the break but it’s more of an advert for the developer’s conference. This pre-announcement either means Apple doesn’t have that much to show, or, hopefully, there’s so much that the company had to announce some ahead of time to make room in Steve’s keynote.

Oil Company President Admits Defrauding Citizens Bank

Bank fraud by an oil company president? Yes, indeed. The president – Christopher T. Carr – has pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud stemming from a scheme to defraud Citizens Bank of millions of dollars.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Carr was the president of F&S Oil Company Inc., which was in the business of providing heating oil to residential and commercial customers in the Waterbury, Conn., area. As primarily a seasonal business with fluctuating cash flow, with growing cash deposits when prepaid contracts were purchased by customers and declining cash flow as inventory was purchased and delivered, F&S Oil needed access to a banking line of credit to conduct its business on an ongoing basis. As a result, F&S Oil had a banking relationship with Citizens Bank, which included three outstanding lines of credit or loans secured by the assets, inventory, and receivables of F&S Oil. Citizens Bank would routinely extend funds to F&S Oil under the existing line of credit based, in part, on information provided by F&S Oil in periodic submissions of borrowing base certificates to Citizens Bank. The borrowing base certificates would itemize F&S Oil’s total gross accounts receivable and would include a listing of the aging of the receivables and a total fuel inventory.

Rep. Anthony Weiner Hires Lawyer After Twitter "Prank"

Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., has hired a lawyer after a lewd photo of an unidentified man was posted to his twitter account and directed at a 21-year-old female college student from Seattle.

A spokesman for Weiner said the congressman is exploring “civil or criminal actions” in response to the incident, which he called a “prank.”  It’s unclear whether the office has also requested an independent investigation.
The twitter post, which appeared Friday night and was quickly deleted, was first reported on by conservative website Biggovernment.com.

NHL returns to Winnipeg

In the early morning hours, True North Sports and Entertainment and the Atlanta Spirit Group finally signed off on a deal that will see the Thrashers move to Winnipeg, returning NHL hockey to the Manitoba capital for the first time in 15 years.
The announcement was met with euphoria by hockey fans in Winnipeg. Thousands gathered in the downtown area to celebrate today’s announcement – the majority of them decked out in Winnipeg Jets garb.
The inked had barely dried on the transaction when True North launched into their sales pitch for season’s tickets. An aggressive season ticket campaign is underway as you read this, cleverly titled “Drive to 13.” The goal is to sell 13,000 season tickets before the puck drops next fall. Manitoba Moose season ticket holders will have first access to tickets and the rest of the population will be able to secure season’s seats beginning on Saturday.

Winnipeg New Hockey Team

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — The Atlanta Thrashers are moving to Winnipeg.
True North Sports and Entertainment announced Tuesday at Winnipeg's MTS Centre that it has purchased the struggling team and will shift it to Canada next season.

The deal is reportedly worth $170 million, including a $60 million relocation fee that would be split by the rest of the league.
Winnipeg has been without NHL hockey since the Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996. The Thrashers entered the league three years later as an expansion franchise, but ownership problems, a losing team and dwindling attendance doomed the club.
The team ranked 28th out of 30 teams this year with an average attendance of less than 14,000.
The deal still must be approved by the board of governors, which meets June 21, but that shouldn't be a stumbling block.

Anthony Weiner Lawyers UP!

Anthony Weiner wasn’t able to laugh away what he says was a hacking scheme that posted lewd photos to his Twitter account, so he’s lawyering up instead. Weiner has hired an attorney to explore “what civil or criminal actions should be taken,” according to his spokesman, who adds Weiner is “loath to treat” the incident as more than a prank, “but we are relying on professional advice.” At DailyKos, stef lays out the case for its being a hoax; also, the woman to whom the explicit photo was directed on Twitter says she has had no "inappropriate exchanges" with the representative and had been harassed by conservative activists for weeks before the incident. (One conservative activist, suspicously, even predicted in early May that the Dems would soon have a Chris Lee–like scandal.) The conservative blog The Prudence Paine Papers, however, uncovers some evidence of prior sketchiness from Weiner on Twitter, when a porn star said he had messaged her.
